Anna’s massage and bodywork delivers results. It is unique in that it is based on the horse’s responses to touch. It is a combination of various modalities, including but not limited to myofascial release, acupressure, trigger point therapy and range of motion exercises.
The horse’s responses to touch may be subtle or obvious. Anna uses this observation of the horse’s response to her advantage when performing bodywork. The areas of restriction, pain and discomfort are reached more accurately and the releases are deeper and more profound.
Anna works with all classes of horses, and all disciplines, including dressage, driving, racing, jumping and gaming. Regardless of the horse’s activity level, numerous issues can impact the biomechanics of the horse and cause restrictions and imbalance of the muscles.
Anna’s work will increase circulation to the affected areas and help release adhesions, which will in turn aid the body in healing. Releases of soft tissue around joints will help increase synovial fluid production and range of motion of the affected joint.
Your horse’s performance, comfort and overall balance will improve.

Anna and Cleo
NYS Licensed Massage Therapist,
Certified Equine Sports Massage Therapist,
Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Liability Insurance for People and Animals through the Hands On Trade Association.
Anna is originally from upstate NY and currently lives right outside of her hometown of Johnson City with her family of three cats, one dog and one horse. In 2004 she took the NYS board exam for massage therapy after graduating from the NY Institute of Massage in Buffalo, NY. She started her own massage therapy business, specializing in medical and deep tissue massage. She has helped people of all walks of life manage pain from accidents, sports, and overuse injuries.
Horses have been Anna's second nature since she was a very young girl. Although she has been grateful for her gift of helping people manage pain and discomfort through her therapeutic massage business, she knew she needed a career with horses.
In the meantime, Anna started to apply massage techniques to her own horse, Cleopatra, who was recovering from a terrible hock injury in 2009. After several regular "sessions", she noticed Cleo's range of motion increased, her adhesions around the injury site started to break up, swelling decreased as her lymphatic system started to heal and both her mental and physical states improved tremendously. Massage and bodywork became a big part of Cleo's rehabilitation.
Although Anna sees this type of recovery in her human clients on a regular basis, she was still impressed at what she accomplished with her horse, who is nothing but honest in her reactions to such a treatment. It was after this experience that Anna knew her true calling-- she wanted to apply her skills of massage and bodywork to equine athletes, to help prevent injury and to help an already injured horse recover. She acquired a certification in equine sports massage therapy through Equissage NE/NY in the Spring of 2010. Anna knew that wouldn't be the end of her education, as there is always more to learn. She is regularly continuing her education through independent study, clinics, equine bodywork and health workshops, and experience in the field. Each horse's needs are individual, and Anna learns from each and every equine client she encounters. Anna plans to continue volunteering her bodywork sessions at local equine rescues.
